Privacy & cookies

Updated: 8 October 2026

This notice explains how personal information is handled when you use OutMaps and Out in Brighton at outmaps.co.uk.

Who is responsible?

Christopher Crawford owns and operates OutMaps and is responsible for the personal information handled by the site. Contact him at info@outmaps.co.uk for privacy enquiries, corrections or requests about your information.

Information we receive and why

Providing enquiry or application details is voluntary, but we may be unable to respond or provide the requested service without the relevant information. Business details approved for publication, including any published contact details and map location, are visible to visitors. Please supply information and images you are entitled to publish and avoid including private personal details in public listing content.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Local storage and similar technologies can also remember information on your device. Depending on the page and features used, these may support sign-in, preferences, saved work and consent choices. Advertising technologies may also use cookies, pixels, web beacons and device identifiers.

Strictly necessary storage supports essential functions. Optional advertising storage requires consent where applicable. You can also manage or delete cookies and site storage through your browser settings; doing so may reset preferences or affect functions.

Google advertising

OutMaps is setting up Google AdSense. Where Google advertising services are enabled, Google and other advertising vendors may collect and use IP addresses, identifiers, browser information and interactions with ads. Third parties may place or read cookies, or use web beacons, as a result of advertising services on the site.

Google and other vendors may use advertising cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to OutMaps or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalise advertising across websites, subject to your choices and applicable consent requirements.

When a consent message is presented, you can accept, refuse or manage optional purposes and advertising partners. The message provides information about participating vendors and links to their policies. Consent can be withdrawn through the available privacy or cookie choices control on the site. While this is being configured, contact us if you need help with your choices.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy. You can manage personalised advertising in Google My Ad Center and find additional industry opt-out options at AboutAds. These choices do not necessarily remove all advertising.

Maps and external websites

Some pages display or link to Google Maps. Loading Google map content can send Google information such as your IP address, device information and map searches. If you use a location feature, your browser may ask permission to access your location. You can decline or revoke that permission in your browser. Google handles data under its own privacy policy.

Business websites, menus, booking services and social links may take you to other providers. Their own privacy and cookie policies apply to their services.

Who receives information?

IONOS provides web hosting and email services. Enquiries sent to our contact mailbox are also forwarded to the owner's Microsoft-hosted email account. Google receives information when its maps or advertising services are used; advertising partners depend on the services enabled and your choices. Authorised people helping manage listings may access information needed for that work. Approved public listings are available to site visitors. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.

How long information is kept

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to resolve the matter and deal with related follow-up. Listing information is kept while the listing is maintained, and afterwards only where needed to handle corrections, disputes or legal obligations. Application and activity records are kept as needed to assess and administer participation and resolve related queries. Technical logs, backup copies and provider-held information follow the relevant provider's retention arrangements. Contact us for details relating to your information.

International processing

Providers such as Google and Microsoft may process information outside the UK. Their privacy notices describe processing locations and relevant transfer safeguards. For information about transfers relating to information we hold, contact us using the address above.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also object to use of your information for direct marketing.

Email info@outmaps.co.uk to make a request. We may need information to verify your identity. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are concerned about how your information is handled.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page as the site's services and data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
